Univ.-Prof. Dr. phil. Eva-Maria Jakobs is an expert in language and communications science. She has worked and researched at various universities both at home and abroad, before she was appointed coordinator in 1999 of the interdisciplinary field of technical communication at the Institute of Language and Communications Science at the RWTH Aachen University. Her work focuses on professional communication in business and technology, textual linguistics , electronic media, and usability research.
Prof. Jakobs serves on the advisory board of the GAL (Association for Applied Linguistics) in the section on “Media Communication” and, since 2006, has been a member of “acatech” (Council for Technical Sciences as part of the Union of German Academies of Science). She has also been involved in various projects of the acatech working group, including “Communication Technology and Knowledge Management.”
